Do you ever feel like it takes forever to paint your nails? You put on two to three coats of polish, wait another 15-20 minutes to let the polish dry, and then proceed to move on with your life only to find that you smudge your nails and have to re-do them!
This used to happen to me all the time. I would sometimes spend hours doing my nails while watching TV and then basically be incapacitated until my nails dried.
Now if you’re the type of person who hates getting chips in your nails or you just easily get bored of the same nail colors like me, that means spending a ton of time doing your nails every week. I love changing my nail color every few days but all of that time ends up accumulating real fast and I don’t have time to just sit around and wait for my nails to dry.
All you need to do to fix the problem of waiting forever for your nails to dry is to apply a high-quality fast drying top coat over your regular polish. What I usually do is apply a base coat to protect my nails, followed by 2-3 layers of nail polish, and then I’ll quickly swipe the top coat over the wet polish. That’s it! After about a minute, I’m good to go on with the rest of my day.
With these 2 products I’ll be talking about in this post, you’ll be able to paint your nails from start to finish in less than 10 minutes and you’ll have more free time to do other things that you enjoy.
Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
I had never thought of using a fast drying top coat prior to buying this product even though I had been doing my nails for years since I was a teen (I know, shame!). I would use top coats that just didn’t do anything for my nails except give it an extra layer of shine. To dry them faster, I’d usually resort to blowing on my nails and fanning them in the air. I’m sure you can guess that those two things really didn’t help much though.
Now enter the Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. It’s been my favorite top coat for years now and I seriously cannot skip this step because it shortens the time I spend doing my nails by more than half!
The Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat is a thick polish that dries your nail polish within a minute or 2 and lengthens the life of your polish by protecting it from chips. I can do my nails and not have to worry about them for about 2 weeks before having to re-do them again. It also leaves a beautiful, glossy finish that is similar to a shellac manicure. I’ve been stopped by countless people who have asked if I’ve had my nails done at a salon because they’re so shiny!
This top coat has a very strong chemically smell and shrinks and leaves ripples if too much is layered on. However, as you start using this more, you’ll learn to avoid this by being more precise and putting the right amount of polish on the brush. Overall, the beautiful results outweigh the negatives for me and so it’s still my favorite top coat to this day.
China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat Nail Polish
This top coat doesn’t have as much of a chemical smell which is awesome because the Seche Vite is (I’ve got to admit) pretty darn unpleasant to the nose. It’s also made of a thinner consistency so it dries even faster than the Seche Vite.
The downsides of the thinner consistency are that it’s not as easily able to protect the polish underneath it and my nails tend to chip a few days earlier compared to the Seche Vite. This top coat also doesn’t leave as glossy and shiny of a finish. Despite this, this top coat is still a very good pick though even with its shortcomings.
It doesn’t have to feel like a chore to paint your nails! Applying a top coat will increase the life of your polish, prevent chips from forming, and leave a beautiful shiny finish.
Both products that I mentioned today are great choices to paint your nails with and they’ll help you get the job done. Which top coat you end up choosing will be based on which characteristics that you value more.
