5 Fun Ways To Get Fit On A Budget This Summer
Thanks to Fit4Less for sponsoring this post. All opinions are written by me and are my own.
With summer and the warm weather on its way, it’s that time of year to start getting bikini-ready!
If you’ve been putting off working towards your summer body goals because you’re tight on funds, getting into shape and taking control of your health doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg.
Here are five fun and affordable ways you can get fit on a budget so you can feel and look your best this summer.
1. Join A Low-Cost Gym
Joining a gym is a great way to get in shape! It can help you stay motivated (I know I do when I see everyone hard at work!) and you can meet other like-minded people who are also focused on getting fit, are health-conscious, and love fitness.
If you’ve been hesitant to shell out the cash to join one because you’re trying to reduce your monthly expenses as much as possible, you feel gyms charge too much, or you don’t go often enough to justify the high cost, know that you don’t have to break the bank to get an expensive gym membership to get fit!
There are plenty of lower cost gym memberships that provide an awesome high-value workout experience at an affordable price.
If you live in Canada, you can join a gym such as Fit4Less which has high-quality facilities for an affordable, low cost.
Most locations are even open 24/7 so no matter how crazy your schedule looks, you’ll be able to squeeze in a workout whenever you’re available to go!
2. Join A Recreational Sports Team
If you feel like you’re allergic to the gym and being in a room with fitness equipment just doesn’t motivate you to workout, a great way to have fun while working out is to join a sports team.
Take a look at your local community centers or search meet up opportunities on Meetup! They have a ton of groups on there that don’t cost a lot of money to join, especially for sports that require very minimal equipment.
Whether it’s a ball hockey, softball, ultimate frisbee, soccer, or basketball team you want to join for fun, you’ll have a great time as you get fit on a budget while meeting new people at the same time.
3. Go Outside
Sometimes, the best things in life are free!
One of the best ways to get fit on a budget is to just go outside and enjoy mother nature.
It’s an awesome way to boost your mood, get some fresh air, and your much-needed daily-dose of vitamin D. Take a hike in a nearby conservation area or ravine, play beach volleyball, go cycling, jogging, rollerblading, and so much more.
You can even earn an extra side income by becoming a dog walker while getting your exercise!
4. Workout At Home
Working out doesn’t mean you have to spend a lot of money on a personal trainer to get fit.
If you dislike going to a gym or fitness classes, an affordable way to get in shape is to just workout right in the comfort of your own home!
There are a ton of free resources you can use to do your own workouts at home.
You can always try fitness apps such as Sworkit which will guide you through workouts wherever you are.
Or another great option is to follow YouTube workout videos. Some of my favorite channels that are informative and motivating that you can check out are POPSUGAR Fitness, YogaTX, and Blogilates.
Skip the monthly membership fees by just purchasing the initial equipment you might need such as a resistance band, a barbell, weights, a yoga mat, or a treadmill depending on whether you like doing cardio or using weights.
Or just stick to using your own body weight and do body resistance exercises if you don’t want to purchase any extra equipment.
The downside of working out at home is that it’s harder to stay motivated. Since there’s no one there with you to push you to keep going, you’ll have to find creative ways to motivate yourself.
5. Fitness Deals & Trial Packages
Workouts don’t have to be the same ol’ boring thing again and again if you don’t want them to be. In fact, you can try different types of fitness classes every week if you like variety!
A lot of yoga and pilates studios, MMA gyms, and fitness centers offer trial packages on discount sites such as Groupon where you can purchase a set number of classes to try for a low price.
If you’re just starting your fitness journey and you’re not exactly sure what you want to get into, this is a great way to test out a variety of classes and get your feet wet.
There are so many types of fun workout classes available out there, such as kickboxing, cycling, indoor rock climbing, martial arts, and kettlebell classes, so there’s one that’s bound to be right for you.
Conclusion
There you have it – five affordable ways to work out and get in shape.
Working out and getting fit on a budget this summer is totally possible!
Be sure to take advantage of the nice weather outside, switch up your workouts every so often so you don’t get tired of doing the same thing over and over again, and you’ll be well on your way to becoming bikini-ready this summer!

I need to get back into a workout routine. I love Casey and the girls from Popsugar. I find their workouts to be easiest for me when I’m trying to get back in shape. Good article. I think Canada 2fit has something very smart with the twice a week commitment.
Thanks Jordan. Glad you like working out to Popsugar too!
Working out at home is certainly the most budget- friendly options. But there are gyms that have surprisingly low rates- you just have to check around.
Working out at home and outside are two of my favorite things! Especially when it’s nice out, there’s a ton of great walking trails and paths nearby. Plus, there’s so many great workout videos that make working out at home a breeze. However whenever I want to change things up, going to a gym is the best way to do so. I’m going to be checking out some of the rates at nearby gyms!
That’s awesome! Switching things up every so often is a great idea.
Never thought about Groupon and will definitely look into that now!
Glad to help 🙂
