If you’re a blogger or business owner, you know how much you have to constantly promote yourself on multiple social media platforms in order to market your business and reach as big of an audience as you possibly can.
It’s definitely not easy though! Let’s say your ideal audience hangs out on most social media platforms. You’ll probably want to build your brand on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and more. Can you imagine having to pin, tweet, and post your pictures and blog posts on all of these platforms manually all day and night?
Doing all of that would seriously take up so much of your time and as a blogger or business owner, there’s never enough time! You’re already juggling a bunch of things – writing posts, taking pictures, creating graphics… you name it – that there really isn’t enough time of day to constantly be by your phone or computer to promote your content. Luckily in this day and age, we’re able to automate some of our tasks and thank god social media scheduling is a thing!
In today’s post, I’ll be walking you through 2 of the best tools you need to automate your social media scheduling to promote your content on auto-pilot and help save you time and your sanity.
If you don’t have a blog or you want to go self-hosted, you can start your very own today for as low as $3.95/month and you’ll even get a free domain included for the first 12 months! Follow my step-by-step tutorial on how to start your own blog here.
Now, on to my favorite tools!
Let’s first talk about Smarterqueue. If you’ve never heard of this nifty little scheduler, let me introduce to you this wonderful friend of mine that I use on the daily. I recently started using Smarterqueue and oh-my-god, can I just tell you that I’m completely in love with it?
This little handy-dandy scheduler has seriously changed how much time I spend on social media because it does almost everything that I need to promote my blog on auto-pilot, aside from Pinterest. I currently use it to schedule all of my Twitter tweets and Facebook posts in advance. It also has the ability to schedule Instagram and LinkedIn posts although I currently don’t use Smarterqueue for either of them. Pinterest and Google+ are in the works and will be rolled out soon as well.
Why You Should Switch To Smarterqueue
What I love most about Smarterqueue is how easy it is to schedule evergreen posts. Back in the day, I used Buffer. And let me tell you, scheduling tweets on Buffer was pretty much something that I dreaded having to do every few days. I’d barely tweet once or twice a day at best and sometimes I’d even skip it all together just because it was something I hated doing. But once I made the switch to Smarterqueue, it made social sharing so much easier.
Here are some of my favorite features of Smarterqueue:
Evergreen Posts – Evergreen posts are the bomb because they give you the ability to re-queue your posts on auto-pilot and if you’re constantly promoting your content, this can be a serious timesaver. Just set it up once at the beginning and forget about it! The posts will then automatically go out at the specified time outlined in your schedule and you won’t have to ever worry about manually adding them again to your feed.
Analytics Reports – Are you an analytical person and love looking at numbers? Well, the reports that Smarterqueue includes will be right up your alley! Their analytics section is super helpful because it shows how well your posts are doing on a weekly and monthly basis and you can compare previous time periods and tweak your posts based on when your audience is the most active.
Set Categories – Categories make it so easy to organize your posts. Set up your post categories at the beginning and then add your posts to its designated category.
Share Other People’s Content – Smarterqueue makes sharing other people’s content really easy! They have a whole section that searches your timeline, twitter lists, and RSS feeds for posts you can share.
Bulk Schedule – If you have hundreds of posts to import to Smarterqueue at the beginning, an awesome feature you’ll want to check out is the ability to bulk schedule everything all at once. Just create a .CSV spreadsheet, upload it directly to the site, and you’re done.
The best part of it all is that it literally takes only about an hour to set up Smarterqueue at the beginning and then you’re basically d-o-n-e until you decide you want to change things up! It’s also really easy to get the hang of so there’s no confusion on how things work.
How To Set Up Smarterqueue
Here’s a quick overview of how to use it. Note: I’m going to be using Twitter in this example, but setting it up applies to all of the other social media accounts you link to your account that you want to schedule as well!
Create Your Categories & Schedule
First, link your social media account to your Smarterqueue account. Once it’s linked, you’ll be prompted to set up your categories.
You can either keep the ones that are already given to you by default or you can revise them and set up your own.
Create Your Posts
Once your schedule is filled up, it’s now time to add in your evergreen tweets in each category. You can either bulk schedule your tweets and upload the .CSV file or you can just write out your post or promotion once and click the option to re-queue so it recycles on your feed over and over again.
Share Other’s Content
When you have a feed, you can’t just be sharing your own content because it can look spammy! To share someone else’s post, just search via their interface to find other people’s content and quickly share it and add it to your queue. Super simple right?
Once you’ve gotten your evergreen tweets and other people’s content, your social media schedule is now ready to be used over and over again! You only need to set it up once. It’s seriously that simple.
Since using Smarterqueue, I now promote my content, freelancing services, and share other people’s posts over 15 times a day on Twitter. That wouldn’t be possible if I was manually tweeting because I wouldn’t have the time to do anything else! And don’t forget, all of their features can be used for so many different social platforms so it’s not just for Twitter.
I absolutely love Smarterqueue, its lovely interface, and how easy it is to use. I would totally recommend it to anyone who wants to automate their social media. They’re also always testing and coming out with new features that their users request and their customer service is really awesome!
If you want to give it a try yourself, you can get a 30-day trial of Smarterqueue instead of the usual 14-day trial period with my link to test it out yourself and see if it’s a good fit for you.
If you use Pinterest to promote your blog or services, you’ve probably heard of Tailwind. Tailwind has been a game changer in promoting my blog because it allows me to automatically pin and promote my blog posts every day without actively being on Pinterest all the time. I do still use it regularly because I enjoy pinning for fun but I no longer have to spend hours of my time on Pinterest just because I need to.
With Pinterest, it’s ideal to constantly be pinning so you can imagine that if you had to pin up to 60 times a day that it’d get really tedious. If you were out with friends or on a date, you’d have to pin or you’d miss out on substantial traffic. Or if you were on vacation and couldn’t connect to the Internet, not being able to manually pin would be detrimental.
Not anymore though!
Tailwind automates everything so you can take back control of your life and free up your time to work on other things. It also calculates exactly when your audience is the most active so it pushes your pins out at those times. Some other great features that a Tailwind subscription comes with are:
- The ability to schedule an unlimited number of pins per month
- Interval scheduling
- An awesome analytics section that shows how your pins are doing as well as the group boards you’re a part of
- The Tailwind Tribes feature which can help increase your traffic even more
- Set up board lists to make it super easy to schedule your pins to all of your group boards
Want to learn more about Tailwind? You can read all about it in my in-depth Tailwind review and tutorial on how to use it in my post on how I skyrocketed my blog traffic here.
If you want great results on Pinterest, I absolutely recommend that you get Tailwind. And right now for a limited time with my link, you can get a $15 credit so your first month is totally free!
(If you don’t like the idea of a program automatically pinning for you though and you want more control over your feed, I highly recommend trying out the Pinteresting Strategies manually pinning strategy! Carly talks all about how to improve our profile so you can go from 0 to 200,000 page views a month! I love her strategy and would absolutely fall back on using it again if I didn’t have Tailwind.) Use coupon code LASTCHANCE and save $15 until October 29th!
Side note: Tailwind has officially partnered with Instagram and they now offer an Instagram scheduler so now you can schedule both Pinterest and Instagram posts in advance! Yipee!
There you have it – 2 awesome social media schedulers that can totally free up your time so you have more time to dedicate and devote to your business or blog. If you’re not already using them to automate your business, I definitely recommend that you check them out and see for yourself just how awesome they really are!
